ManleySchoolcraft College The Brain Pacemaker A New Hope For Seizure PatientsTimes have certainly changed with the progression of technology and health care more specifically, with the advances in care for patients who suffer from epilepsy. An epileptic seizure is a transient occurrence of signs and/or symptoms resulting from abnormal, excessive or synchronous neuronal bodily function in the brain. This activity results in an alteration in motor activity, sensation, behavior or consciousness (Solomon, 2012). Over the years, medicinal drugs have been discovered to help minimize the amount of seizures and/or the specialty of seizures in patients of all age ranges but not all medications are effective because of the variance in each persons genetic make-up. Although, when medication fails, and the seizures dont stop, thats when a California-based company, NeuroPace, rewrites the present and future of patients with epilepsy.
